1. Map Style - How the Pupil Distribution map is rendered will depend on the type of user:-

• General Public (default option) - For the casual viewer, the map is rendered as an anonymised "hotspot" style map only for all schools.
• Registered School Staff Users - Each school will be also able to view the Pupil Distribution map for their school as individual pupil icons & travel lines, and users can toggle between this "Pupil Icon" and the "Hotspot" view. The maps for all other schools in the LA will be available but will still only be rendered as a "hotspot" one. Note that users must be logged in to see the Pupil Icon map. All Dorset schools will have received a username and password for a single School Staff account for the STHC portal as part of their STHC pack and we would recommend that a particular member of staff takes responsibility for sharing the login details with colleagues at the local school level as the data is useful for day-to-day school management as well as for teaching. Note that it will be up to each school to decide for themselves whether or not pupils are allowed to view the Pupil Icon map as part of normal teaching in a classroom setting. As already mentioned though pupils do not need an individual login to see the "Hotspot" map.
• Registered Administrator Users - The highest level of access enables users to see the "Pupil Icon" map for all schools in the authority as well as the "Hotspot" one, though again the user must be registered with us and logged in. We would envisage such users to be local authority officers involved in the strategic planning and delivery of local services to all schools in the local authority eg. transport planning.
